HAWTHORNE, Fla. — Residents got a first look at the future vision for the proposed Hawthorne Area Resource Center during a special meeting held on May 13, where design concepts were formally presented by Tallen Builders and DEZA Interiors.
The presentation showcased preliminary renderings and interior concepts for what is envisioned to become a modern, multipurpose facility designed to serve residents through food assistance, community programming, meeting space, and additional support services.

A Modern Vision for Community Support
According to the presentation materials, the project is centered around creating a space that feels:
Welcoming
Elevated
Comfortable
Connected to the surrounding environment
Design goals described the project as combining a “high spirit,” “executive-elevated,” and “outdoors-organic” aesthetic through the use of soft colors, natural textures, clean lines, and earthy materials.
Exterior renderings presented by DEZA Interiors featured a modern facade accented with green tones, natural stone, and contemporary architectural lines.

What the Facility Will Include
Plans presented during the meeting highlighted several functional areas within the proposed resource center, including:
Lobby and event spaces
Conference rooms
Offices
Breakrooms
Bathrooms
Community-oriented gathering areas
Presentation materials also emphasized the importance of creating a welcoming arrival experience, including custom accent wall features designed to make the facility feel inviting to residents and visitors alike.
The designs showed a clear focus on balancing professionalism with warmth—something city leaders and project teams appear to view as important for a facility intended to serve the broader community.

More Than Just a Building
What stood out during the presentation was that the project is not simply being approached as a traditional food bank.
Instead, the concept appears aimed at creating a broader community resource hub—one that could potentially serve residents in multiple ways while also providing modern gathering and support space for the area.
For many residents, projects like this represent something larger:
An investment in people.
A Sign of Continued Momentum
The presentation comes during a period of increasing activity and discussion surrounding Hawthorne’s future development, including ongoing conversations around the industrial park, Santa Fe College expansion concepts, housing, and infrastructure improvements.
While the Hawthorne Area Resource Center is still in the construction stage, the May 13 presentation offered residents an early glimpse into what will eventually become another significant addition to the community. At the meeting, it was shared that the roof has officially been added to the building as the project progresses full speed ahead.
A Personal Perspective
As someone who has lived in Hawthorne my entire life, it’s encouraging to see projects being discussed not only in terms of necessity—but also in terms of quality, design, and long-term community impact.
Spaces matter.
The environments we create influence how people feel, gather, and interact with one another. Seeing thoughtful design and intentional planning being brought into conversations about community resources is something I believe many residents will appreciate.
